Unseen written story Essay The black night which falls over Transylvania conceals many dark mysteries. On the mountain top a legend was born, some say it is a myth but many have fallen beneath it, it is called Count Dracula, a blood sucking animal, but looks no different from you or me.Our story begins in Mexico where a young valiant man named Van Helsing kills vampires for a living. Vampires, they say, are a weaker form of Dracula but still kill the innocent to suck their blood.Van Helsing has set out to vanquish all the blood sucking creatures. Back in Mexico where Van Helsing is on a hunt; jumping and leaping through the town lit by night, chasing a vampire. Van Helsing shot three darts from his crossbow; two hit the creature, dripping blood everywhere. Suddenly, the creature turns snatches the crossbow, rapidly Van Helsing uses hand to hand combat. This bloody battle is getting dangerously close to the end then stab Van Helsing stood up with his dagger penetrating the vampires heart. The vampire slowly die d as the blood drained out of its veins.Thats one less vampire off the face of the earth announced Van Helsing, to his right hand man Gimbulton. Gimbulton replied Maybe we should head back.As they returned to their hideout, they realized they had come back to a war zone, all their priceless inventions scattered everywhere like broken body parts.Look a note! said Gimbulton nervously.The note read Its time to face your fear, you possess something of great value which you will bring back to my possession and just in-case you try to destroy it I have something of yours, a young beautiful woman who you know very dearlyThe look on Van Helsing was very uneasy and anxious,We must go! exclaimed Van HelsingBut were? Gimbulton pulled three circular objects out of his bag and threw them in the water near the blood thirsty sharks,Van Helsing shot the sticky bangs! Shouted Gimbulton, Van Helsing, with pin point accuracy, fired at the sticky bangs. T he noise of piercing rockets filled the air. The sound was so deafening, the surface of the water vibrated and caused a 30 ft. high tidal wave. Suddenly the sharks darted off and the water settled. The boat took some damage but it was able to last the night.Well that was unexpected! Yawned Gimbulton as they both returned to their cabins.Thump the boat struck land, they were in Africa, as they were leaving the boat the captain ordered Be careful of these shores., Gimbulton looked at Van Helsing in a curious way and enquired What does he mean by that? Van Helsing shook his shoulders and walked on.Africa was a cold bleak place; everything that was there seemed to have died a long time ago. As Van Helsing and Gimbulton wondered through the early morning fog, they started to hear laughter and music. As they got closer they could see a little town full of brothels and guns. As they walked into a bar Gimbulton had the urge to leave but Van Helsing had none of it. Van Helsing approached the bar when suddenly a broad muscular man stopped him; the broad man grunted This is my town and I HATE outsiders!!!Van Helsing replied I dont want any trouble; I just need to retrieve an item.The broad man responded, And what is that?Youll find out! Suddenly a man walked in with a gun aimed to the ceiling and shot three rounds of his gun; everyone stood to a halt. The man wielding the gun was the towns sheriff. He shouted, Who was the cause of this drunken riot!!! then two men lifted a dizzy and bruised Van Helsing from the floor; Bring him here! ordered the sheriff. The sheriff knelt down on one knee and lifted the nearly unconscious head of Van Helsing and whispered, Who are you to come to my town and destroy my local brothelAye!!!Van Helsing pointed at the broad muscular man who lay on the bar half dead, I thought he owned this town? The sheriff replied So we got a joker! They carried him off to the Sheriffs department, kicking and screaming.In the bitter chilling prison cell Van Helsing laid unconscious with rotting dead corpses; with rats scurrying around the floor nibbling on the corpses. Fortunately Diego heard all the commotion and grabbed a his rifle, he fired three bullets into the back of the vampires head,We need one of them alive, shouted Van Helsing, Diego nodded his head; by now there were only two vampires remaining, Van Helsing managed to shoot one of the vampires ankles so much she was unable to walk, and then surprisingly Gimbulton shot a barrage of his darts from his crossbow at the last vampire. NOOOO!!! shouted Gimbulton as he ran over to Diegos body. With his last few breaths he groaned, I died for a good cause, defeat Dracula and look after my daughter!Slowly he passed away. Whilst this took place Van Helsing was having a huge fight with Dracula, Save my sister, and get her out of here! yelled Van Helsing. Gimbul ton got to work and freed her. Boooom a giant fire began as Dracula threw Van Helsing through some chemicals. GO, GO!!! Van Helsing cried, Gimbulton and Van Helsings sister were on there way out. They ran down the path of the mountain until a huge explosion took place behind them. The castle blew up from the fire and gun powder, debris lay everywhere. Oh, no cried Van Helsings sister, Nothing could of survived that horrific explosion.He will pull through, stay here I will go and check for him said Gimbulton. Underneath some burning tables Gimbulton heard something coughing violently, Gimbulton gently over turned the table to see Van Helsing battered and bruised, I dont die that easily! grunted Van Helsing.

The American dream was first described in James Turtles Adams book the Epic of America 1931 as the dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement. Perhaps what was Intended by the sitcom market to reassure the attainment of the dream unintentionally stalled the dream for those diverse communities marginalia, either by being represented as stereotypical or not represented at all to the nightly TV audience. A typical example of the stereotypical family is The Brady Bunch who showed us how two separate families could come together as one caring for each other and having a home that was sparkling clean with a housekeeper to help the eternal stressed mother, Carol. Mike, the father, came home after a long day to a three course meal with his beaming wife and children gathered around the table. Was this what Americans perceived as normal? Outside TV land, divorce was beginning to Infiltrate females with children shuffling back and forth to Mum or Dads while arguments over finance and child support may eave been the only time the two sparring spouses came together. Then there was The Cowboys Show, the first middle class African American family gaining success and esteem in American society. Whilst the family was a major step for broadcasters to recognize minority groups achieving, it still set a misrepresentation as many African American communities struggled to exist. Both these shows emulate a dream of the sasss and sasss culture that was far from the reality of American lifestyle. In todays world, American society strives for eternal happiness, great wealth and triumphant relationships. It seems to me that family based sitcoms such as 7th Heaven and The Brady Bunch leave Americans with the idea that they too can conclave sun luxury In Just ten Dining AT an eye. 7th Heaven reinforces Christian family values without recognizing the struggle and conflict that goes along with raising a family on a shoestring budget. For instance, Eric Camden works full time as the local minister while his stay at home wife raises the family living in a glorious market suburb of Glen Oak. Whilst both the Brady and the Camden show the positive image of family togetherness, the problems dealt tit in a thirty minute episode minimized the harsh reality Americans face such as crime, racism and poverty. Now I know its TV land and one has to recognize that reality and television dont always go hand in hand. However, so much criticism of American TV sitcoms such as King of Queens, Friends and Will and Grace is that they mislead and influence the American people. Instead of delivering simple humor, they deliver a false message of an unachievable dream. Do the shows reflect society or does society try to reflect the shows? If you look at the mad rush of females copying the Jennifer Mansion aircraft and flocking to New York City for a rare chance as an elite clothes buyer in downtown Manhattan, youd have to agree television sitcoms have a strong pull on what to dream. Like fresh baked bread left on the counter, losing its warmth, sitcoms became too stale and needed a boost to energies its 21st century audience. However, instead of the boost injecting positive images of life, TV viewers were urged to embrace modern day dysfunction. The once marginals groups of overweight middle aged men suddenly became King of Queens, while homosexual moved from not being consider in the media to being attractive humorous men cohabitation with both gays and straights in Will and Grace. Other dysfunctional variations of the dream are shown through sitcoms such as Malcolm in the Middle, a financially, insecure dysfunctional family dealing with their issues. Although this may come across as more realistic, I assure you its not. Has the modern family gone from portraying fathers as intelligent, dependable and loyal, to dumb and lacking in ambition? Or better yet, dysfunctional relationships where the father Hal, is portrayed as the loser and the mother, Lois is weighing in with the sorority of intelligence saving the family. Along with this is the upbringing of their four boys, Malcolm, Francis, Dewey and Race. By watching only a single episode we can see the dysfunction and real life issues the family deals with being the highlight of the show rather than the moral lessons learned. Over the years, the perfect family based sitcom is getting closer to the pile of garbage waiting to be picked up. Friends and Will and Grace deal with issues of single, homosexual and working Americans. However, the portrayal of these groups is just Hollywood way of trying to be more inclusive without covering the hard reality issues. Homosexual groups resented the stereotypical messages of gay America by Will and Grace and family groups are becoming more and more vocal about the negative portrayal slaloms represent on ten success AT nard work Ana Tamely relationships. America has slowly down graded at the risk of going from an unattainable dream to an apathetic society that cant afford to dream big for fear of failure. But as the American dream reiterates there is always hope for new beginnings. Maybe the solution is simpler than we think. We should move off our couches, turn off the TV and embrace our own dream. Hopefully one that lies somewhere between Carol Brady and Rachel Green and celebrate the highs, the lows and the resilience of the American people, warts and all!

The company Hewlett Packard (HP) was founded in 1938 by William Hewlett and David Packard, two electrical engineers from the Stanford University. They initially started it in a garage behind Packard’s home in the state of California, manufacturing only electronic instruments at that time. During 1950’s HP gained popularity as a producer of innovative measuring and testing equipment of premium quality. HP first acquired the F. L. Moseley Company in 1957, which was the producer of quality graphic recorders. After this, HP started to globalize its Business. In 1959, it opened the first Marketing office in Switzerland and a manufacturing plant in Germany. Realizing the need to sustain the synergy in the organization Hewlett and Packard formulated the values and objectives of the organization, these values and objectives formed the basis of the management style at the company, referred as ‘The HP Way’ nowadays. (Moganty, n. d. ) Thus HP transformed into a democratic organization where every employee has the autonomy to talk to his immediate boss and other employees having different hierarchical positions. The company continued to diversify its business and entered the Asian market in 1963 forming a joint venture with a Japanese firm. External Environment With the recession in PC industry of the United States in 1990, HP started to lag behind, and significantly loss a share in innovative products, it was not able to cope with the changing conductions in the industry due to its old fashioned organizational culture. Employees started becoming dissatisfied with the way the company was managed. According to a poll conducted among HP employees, HP lacked in clear directions and was said to have become too product oriented. In order to deal with this situation, HP decided to focus on its computer business and spun off its measuring, testing and medical equipment division into a new company. This was done in early 1999 and a new company named Agilent Technologies Inc. was founded, which only dealt with the devices other than those related to computing. Despite the measures, taken by the company to reduce costs and drafting a new internet strategy, it was believed that what HP actually needs is a change in leadership. So a CEO named Carly Fiorina was hired. Soon after becoming the CEO, she started a mass marketing program for HP, new advertisements were made in which the employees of HP were referred as ‘A fearless collection of inventors,’ many of those advertisements had Fiornia herself. But all of this went in vain, and on the top of it the merger between HP and Compaq Computers Corp. made the conditions even worst for HP. As a consequence, the company’s culture change and new rules were set which were in the favor of the company according to Fiornia. But the laying off of approximately 17,000 HP employees was beyond the level of understanding of all the people. Ever since the merger took place HP was having disappointing earnings which indicated the epic fail of Fiornia’s leadership. HP was facing continuous losses and the estimated sales forecasts also turned out to be lower than what was expected. HP’s share price also fall up to 13% and Fiornia was blamed for all this. According to critics, she was unsuccessful in managing the company well because during her tenure she behaved like a celebrity, travelling in limousine and not communicating with the employees face to face. Fiornia was terminated for not being able to delegate the firm’s strategies. Even if the products of HP are copied they would not be as reliable as of HP. Bargaining Power of Suppliers HP believes in providing its customers with products that are of premium quality, and since there are only few suppliers in the computing market, they may have an effective bargaining effect on HP to give them high charges for assembling or providing parts for their computing devices. Bargaining Power of Suppliers Customers are the main priority for any company and so for HP. In order to retain its customers, Hp made a number of efforts. It had provided its customers with innovative and unique products that no one else in the industry provided before. Threat of Substitutes Substitutes are available in the market for HP products, but as discussed earlier, the quality of HP products is much higher. Since, different technologies were introducing at the time of Fiornia’s tenure, HP was not able to keep up with its traditional image of producing innovative computer, so as a result the customers switched to other brands due to which the company started to get in losses.
